PATNA: Peels of laughter and loads of pure fun marked the Hasya Kavi Sammelan held on Sunday evening at the Bihar Chamber of Commerce. Witty compositions mixed with satire and humour made every one laugh to their heart’s content.
That simple real life situations and goings-on in the world can also be funny was reflected in the poems of the famous poets who had gathered to take part in the event.
Among the poets who were present included Surendra Sharma, Mahendra Ajnabee, Sita Sagar and Ved Prakash.
As ever, the target of Sharma’s poem was his wife together with the entire women population of the world. Addressing GM of East Central Railway R S Varshaneya, who was present as the chief guest along with his wife, he said that people usually come to his Kavi Sammelans with their wives as they are scared to say anything to their wives on their own. Desh ke patiyon ne mujhe supari di hai, khud kuch kahne ki himmat nahi mujshe kahalwate hain, he said. This was enough to make the people roar with laughter.
He also commented on the difference in the marital life of people in India and America. He said that in America people love their wives so much (in trains, on roads and everywhere) that they get fed up with them in two years and eventually divorce them. On the contrast, Indian couples love so little that they somehow tolerate each other for a lifetime.
He said, Indian pati patni rail ki patri ki tarah hote hain, milte nahi par saath chalte hain.
As the function was organised by ECR Women’s Welfare Association, he did not forget to take a dig at the Indian Railways. Railway aur premika me koi khaas antar nahi, he said adding, dono hi late aati hain, intazaar karwati hain, make up karti hain aur dono ki chain khichi jaati hai. However, the difference between the two is, he said, premika make up karne me late ho jati hain aur train late hone par make up karti hai.
